Haphazardly-strewn objects hint at careless nights. All of this, a waking dream in pink.Bree’s paintings are known for suggestive imagery and delirious all-pink palette. She has spent years creating work in this single color, forsaking all others. Why pink? As the artist explains, “pink is at once loud and aggressive yet hazy and dreamy. Hazy figures are conjured from downtown bars and half-remembered house parties. Haphazardly-strewn objects hint at careless nights. All of this, a waking dream in pink.

Bree’s paintings are known for suggestive imagery and delirious all-pink palette. She has spent years creating work in this single color, forsaking all others. Why pink? As the artist explains, “pink is at once loud and aggressive yet hazy and dreamy. It’s punk rock and strawberry shortcake. I am captivated by the aesthetic, physical, and symbolic qualities of the color. There is a power in pink, a history—and it has never once cared what we think of it.”

In her latest series, Bree employs her signature color system to create scenes and characters at once nostalgic for the fleeting freedoms of irresponsibility. GIRL DINNER will feature all-new paintings of the blurry spaces between risk and revelry, restraint and release.
